HELLO, AND WELCOME!

I’m Angela, a painter/mixed media artist based in Manchester. I’m inspired by my environment and finding beauty in unexpected places. I love wild landscapes, weathered surfaces, the patterns of bare branches. I’m currently working on a series of landscapes inspired by photographs I’ve taken from train windows.

My paintings usually have many layers. I’m fascinated by the idea of ‘things beneath the surface’; I think having history and secrets makes a painting more interesting (same with people!)

I work in acrylics but often add other media, including oil pastel, ink, pencil and occasionally scraps of vintage paper as collage. I create on canvas, paper and wood, and unusual surfaces appeal to me; I have an ongoing series of miniature trees which are painted on up-cycled wooden game pieces.

My work is owned worldwide and has been exhibited and sold in various locations in the UK, including Highgate Contemporary Art, Cupola Gallery in Sheffield, Bury Art Gallery, and Platform Gallery Clitheroe. I have also had several mixed media art tutorials published in a UK craft magazine.
